The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce and community partners have introduced BC’s first Barn Quilt Trail. As with BeadTrails the trail is a fun way to entice travelers to leave the highway and discover places that they might not have visited otherwise.
Rural landscapes are changing, barns and farms are disappearing and this project is a meaningful way to draw attention to important agricultural history. Over 25 wooden quilts celebrate country heritage and tell stories of historic significance.
Each quilt is made up of painted quilt-piece wooden blocks that create a traditional pattern that has significance for that site.
Visitors can pick up maps at the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce or check out the North Okanagan Shuswap Barn Quilt Trail on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. Go to Beads & Maps to see all the beads and businesses.
