2020 has been a year of unprecedented strife and resilience. Individually and as a community, we have all done our best to overcome devastating global fires, political upheaval, and the most sweeping pandemic the world has seen since the Spanish Flu.
At the beginning of this year, Bead Trails committed itself to a fundraiser for the emergency first responders and wildlife of Australia during the devastating fires of February. We had hoped to continue this fundraiser until the end of 2020. However, with heavy hearts, we must announce that we are cutting the duration of the fundraiser short by a few months.
Covid has taken its toll on our capacity to keep pushing for our initial fundraising goal. With your help, and the support of many wonderful local businesses, we were able to raise 2353.15. This is still a remarkable achievement, given the struggles we all faced during these past months.
We will be sending out the funds to the NSW Rural Fire Services and RSPCA National Bushfire Appeal at the end of October. We wanted to send out a heartfelt thank you to the amazing businesses who supported our fundraising efforts. To the participating BeadTrails businesses who featured the fundraiser bead: thank you.
And to every person who bought a bead, who shared a donation link, and participated in getting the word out: we may not have reached our goal, but our joint efforts will make a difference to the lives impacted by the February fires.
